Former American Idol contestant David Archuleta has experienced a big change in plans over the years. In this exclusive 92 PRO-FM interview from 2008, David discusses how incredible his American Idol experience was, and expresses his deep passion for music. As fans, we naturally predicted a continuation in his music career–new singles, albums, and more musical appearances. Ironically, David has taken an alternative route and has traveled in a completely different direction.

As the years went by, the spotlight on David and on his music faded away little by little. Back in May, 2014 David posted a very intimate video on his YouTube channel discussing that he is “still alive” In the video, David mentions that he has not disregarded his passion for music, and he is in fact still writing and playing but more so in a personal level. He explains what he has been up to, and ultimately where he has been while his fans have been drowning in curiosity. David discusses the pressure he had felt when trying to please everyone around him, which lead him to lose sight of his own aspirations “that’s not what I want to do, that’s never what I wanted to do.”

For those of us who were still wondering what happened to the wonderful and talented David Archuleta, below is the intimate insight. David went away for two years on a Mormon mission (can he get any sweeter?) but is now feeling “fresh”, taking time to get to know himself, and working towards his dreams. Fingers crossed he is almost ready for a comeback!
