East Greenwich High School is the best public high school in Rhode Island, while Moses Brown School in Providence ranks as the best private school in the state, according to niche.com, a website that is “obsessed with providing students, families, and professionals with best-in-class content and deep insight into big life decisions.”

The survey takes into consideration several factors: academics, health and safety, parent and student surveys, diversity, teachers, facilities, extracurricular activities and sports and fitness.

East Greenwich High School received an “A+” in academics, health and safety, and teachers. The school received an “A-” in facilities, an “A” in extracurriculars, a “B+” in sports and fitness, and a “C+” in culture and diversity. The school also received a 4 out of 5 grade by parents and students.

Rounding out the top 5 public schools in the state were Barrington High School, Classical, Block Island, and Portsmouth High School. The lowest ranked schools were Shea High School in Pawtucket, Woonsocket High School, Tolman High School in Pawtucket, West Warwick High School, and Mt Pleasant High School in Providence.

The private high schools are ranked a bit differently, taking into account academics and student culture and diversity, as well as survey responses from parents and students. Providence’s Moses Brown School ranked 1st in the state, with an “A” in academics and an “A-” in student culture and diversity.

Rounding out the top five were St George’s School in Middletown (despite recent controversies), Wheeler School in Providence, Portsmouth Abbey, and Aquidneck Island Christian Academy in Portsmouth.
