Cranston, Rhode Island is one of “America’s Best Cities to Live,” according to financial website 247WallSt.com’s newly released rankings.
The website cited Cranston’s home affordability, air quality, quick commutes, and access to libraries, sports clubs, and other amenities as positives for living in Cranston, as well as the fact that Rhode Island’s third largest city is a safe one – with a violent crime rate of 131 incidents a year per 100,000 residents, it is cited as being much safer than other cities in the area.
247WallSt.com says Cranston could show improvement with residents using public transportation, with only 3.2% of residents using it for their daily commute.
The median home value in Cranston is $200,200, and the average commute time for Cranston residents is 22.1 minutes.
According to the site, “24/7 Wall St. considered the roughly 550 cities that the U.S. Census Bureau reported as having populations more than 65,000 residents in 2014. Only the top performing city in each county was considered in our ranking. Data were collected in nine major categories: crime, demography, economy, education, environment, health, housing, infrastructure, and leisure.”
Cranston ranked #41 overall. The #1 ranked city was Meridian, Idaho, with nearby Danbury, Connecticut coming in 2nd.
