Congratulations to this week’s Showcase Cinemas High School Team of the Week: Burrillville Boys & Girls Soccer!
This week’s spotlight entry was sent in by Lori Bassett, parent of one of the athletes and coach Amy Cardone:
“The Burrillville High School Girls’ and Boys’ soccer teams hosted a Pink Out Soccer game on Saturday, September 26, 2015 against Johnston High School. All proceeds from the event will go directly to Gloria Gemma Foundation.
The pink bus from Gloria Gemma was also in attendance. The athletes sold pink out t-shirts prior to the game and wore pink shirts and socks at the game. In addition, the lines of the field were painted pink and there were two pink ribbons placed at midfield. T-shirts, bracelets, hats, pom poms, and raffle tickets as well as pizza and concessions were also sold on the day of the event to all fans in attendance to also benefit the foundation.
As an added bonus, both teams won their games.
The final check will be presented to Gloria Gemma Foundation by the team captains at the end of October.”
