Max & Mary

Well it all started at the Ocean Mist on a \"Ticket Tuesday\". Picture a 6\'6\" guy on a packed dance floor, dancing with his male friend, Iain. Cheesy move: I put my hand out to the attractive blonde dancing with her friend. She takes my hand and we start dancing, exchange numbers, yada yada. Flash forward 2 years and I am now engaged to the brunette friend of the blonde. Every corny line sums it up: best friends, opposites attract, you know when you know, etc. It has been an awesome 2 years of love. The relationship is easy. We compliment each other. Can\'t wait to see what the future holds! - Written by Max (Mary doesn\'t know I entered for this)

Tommy & Paris

Tommy and I met when my parents bought the house next door to his in 1997; I was ten and he was twelve. From the first time that we met, I was smitten with a schoolgirl crush. As we grew up, I, being the straight \"A\" student, always admired him from a distance, as he was a \"bad boy\" and I certainly wasn\'t his type; a bookworm! After high school, Tommy joined the USCG and I left for college. We always remained friendly but lost touch over the years. Tommy ultimately made the decision to leave the USCG and come back to RI to go to college, which is where our love story began. I was at Harborside one summer and from behind me, I heard someone say my full name; it was him. I was blown away because I hadn\'t seen him in almost ten years and the young mischievous boy I once knew had grown into a handsome and smart man and he could certainly see that I was no longer a frizzy haired bookworm with braces. From that moment on, we\'ve been inseparable. I never thought that I\'d end up marrying my schoolgirl crush. Life with him feels right and natural. To be marrying him feels like a surreal full circle moment. Our love was nearly 15 years in the making, but it was meant to happen just as it did. I am finally marrying the boy next door.

Nathan & Joshua

Josh and I met almost 8 years ago. I grew up in Indiana and was living in Chicago; he was from Warwick and in town for a few days with friends. I was at Hamburger Mary’s for my weekly Karaoke and drinks with friends when three girls grabbed me and introduced us. We instantly hit it off, laughing so hard that Josh accidently smashed my drink resulting in some impromptu first aid. Josh left the next day. I wanted to see him again so I flew to RI to visit. Three months later I was moving to New England. I met his family a week after moving here and was instantly a “DePalma team player,” as his aunt would say. Josh proposed Christmas morning. He didn’t go crazy preparing an over-the-top day or some outlandish plan. That isn’t us. Instead, he got down on one knee in our tiny kitchen (I didn’t mind the dirty dishes) and asked me if I would do him the honor of being his husband. It’d be nice to say that everything has been perfect. But that’s not our story. Sadly, Josh’s mother passed away. It was tough on him and his family. However, they are so strong and have kept going. Josh and I have since moved into his childhood home and are renovating it ourselves. It’s been long few years but I couldn’t have done it with anyone else.

Stephen & Jennifer

Steve and I met in college in 2008. Steve’s personality was so attractive and his sense of humor is out of this world, which was intriguing. I never knew what love really meant, until I met Steve. We’ve had so many great memories and milestones, from graduating college, to moving into our first apartment, and starting our careers. We’ve had our challenges but with each other’s love and support we can endure anything. To us, family means everything. We are both close to our families, despite the fact my parents live 2,600 miles away in Colombia. In July Steve and I decided to fly down to visit my parents, and during this trip he asked for my father’s permission to marry me. Then, in November, in the presence of my parents and his, he asked me to be his wife. The fact that my parents were there to witness it meant the world to me, which Steve knew it would. It’s moments like that, his thoughtfulness and compassion, that make me want to spend the rest of my life with him. I love that he is honest, genuine and adores the good and bad about me. He is chivalrous, even after 6 years! I cannot wait to begin this chapter in my life and marry my best friend/soul mate/better half. Love truly is just a word, until someone gives it meaning.

America & Danielle

We have been patiently awaiting the day of our wedding since we first fell in love eleven years ago as Smithfield High School students. However, when we graduated we decided to set aside marriage to follow our individual dreams first. We attended different universities, studied in different countries, and Rico has even been living fourteen hours away for the last two years for graduate school. But despite our separate paths, our love endured and grew. After years of long-distance phone calls and weekend visits, Rico planned an engagement beyond our wildest dreams that made it all worth it in the end. In December at the Christmas Waterfire, he led me along a holiday scavenger hunt complete with whimsical clues, cheerful elves, a stocking of mementos, a diamond ring from Santa Claus, and a proposal beneath the stars. It was by far the most spectacular and emotional night of our lives. Now as we plan the big day to celebrate our commitment to one another, we realize the financial burden we face between student loans and wedding costs. This incredible opportunity would make it possible for us to have the wedding we’ve always imagined without mortgaging our future dreams to buy our first home and welcome our children into the world.

Michael & Victoria

I met my Fiance at a new years eve Party of our mutual close friend. We talked at the party a little not thinking much of it. He deployed the next day as he is in the Army. We found each other online a month or so later and skyped and talked on the phone as much as possible throughout his deployment and decided that we wanted to be together and stay loyal to one another throughout it. we couldn\'t wait to see each other again! We mailed love notes to one another as well to show how much we cared. It was love right from the start! 11 long, slow months went by and he came home! We were inseparable. A year after he came home, we found out we were expecting a beautiful baby and He purposed & we got engaged on the day we met- New years eve. Of course I said yes! Now our baby girl is 11 months old and we are planning our wedding before he most likely goes away into a police academy soon! We would love to win this wedding! It would mean so much to us!

\"What are you laughing at, Canham?\" It was a snarky remark from a punk senior in an afternoon Spanish class to the cute sophomore girl sitting a few seats back. Multiple requests for the phone number were denied, but I battled through! Who knew it would lead to a 12 year relationship and an epic proposal! After years of switching jobs and several moves in and out of RI, I proposed to my fiancé on December 28, 2014 with the help of our trusted mutt Brock. On the way to dinner, we took a trip to the most beautiful overview of downtown Providence, Prospect Park, off the campus of Brown University, to \"check out the city\". The photographer was there waiting, hiding in plain sight. The dog was in a friend’s car waiting for the secret cue to run and join us. As we looked out towards the RI Statehouse, Brock came running with the gift bag around his neck (miracle #1), the photographer jumped in and the magic happened! I grabbed the ring from Brock\'s neck, proposed and she said yes! (miracle #2) Who knew that was going to be the easy part?! Planning a wedding is brutal. With mountains of student-debt, how do we afford it? We are a RI couple; we were born here, lived here our whole lives and want to stay in the biggest little state.

Kevin & Abby

Abby and Kevin met back in 2007. Abby was good friends with his sister and was easily swooned by her big brother, the college guy who rode a motocycle. When Abby was a senior in high school and Kevin returned home from college, they began innocently hanging out for a few months. That began to phase out when Abby started college and Kevin was busy with school. Fast forward 5 years and Abby had moved home from college in January of 2012 to begin an internship at the children\'s hospital. As she was on her way home from her orintation at the hospital, she found herself stuck in that 5:00 traffic on 95 south. Due to boredum and being at a dead stop on the highway, Abby decided to take a \"selfie.\" Just as the picture was snapped, her phone buzzed and she looked down to find a text message from \"Kevin M.\" Surely thinking that this was a mistake text, she opened it to find \"No texting and driving, stranger.\" Low and behold, she looked over to see Kevin next to her in traffic. Fast forward 2 years.. It was Christmas time, Abby\'s favorite time of year. Kevin used Christmas lights in their backyard to spell out \"Abby, will you marry me?\" and that is when the rest of their journey began!

Kenneth & Samantha

I technically met Kenney in high school but honestly never gave him a second thought. It wasn\'t until a shaving cream fight for a pep rally that got me hooked when he gave me his shirt to dry my hair after an embarrassing attempt to wash it in the guy\'s locker room. After that, I made it a mission to return his shirt to see him again (cheesy I know). Luckily, that week I was approved for a job that happened to be at the same place he was working at. I got his number from a mutual friend and joked about how he NEEDED to carpool with me so I could give him that shirt back. Pretty soon we were talking every day and having lunches together. He soon asked me to go out to a movie where I had no clue if he just saw me as a friend or more.....until he kissed me in the theater. The next week he asked me out by spelling it out at the beach and setting off fireworks (I thought this stuff only happened in the movies!). Anyway, fast forward 5 years later, at the stroke of midnight, in front of all my family and friends, he popped the question I had been waiting years for. I fall more in love with him every day and I couldn\'t be happier. OH, and btw, I ended up keeping that shirt - it\'s now my favorite sleep shirt.

Evan & Michelle

My love journey started at Bryant University with my favorite marketing professor Dr. Notarantonio.  During my four year tenure, Dr. N was a great mentor and role model, who always inspired me to strive for greatness.  Aspiring to be like Dr. N, I selected her as my professor for 3 classes, and as my internship coordinator at Schneider Electric.  Soon after I graduated, I was offered a full time position with the company. One day at a company event, my friend and co worker\'s phone started ringing. He was busy and asked me to answer the phone. I ended up talking for five minutes with a charming firefighter named Evan. Little did I know this person would be my future husband, and the son of my favorite professor Dr. N! Our mutual love for the NE Patriots continued our story, as he brought me to my first game in 2012.  In November, not knowing if the Patriots would even make it Super Bowl 49, Evan was offered tickets by a dear friend.  As luck would have it, the Patriots made it to the Super Bowl, Evan proposed during the game, and to top it off the Patriots won! You could say that the Patriots and Dr N. were our good luck charm or that some stronger force brought us together.  We are soul mates with a mutual love for each other.
